WOOD FLOORS SUFFOLK
In all the years we have been sanding wood floors Suffolk and beyond, were still amazed some of the floors customers find when pulling up their carpets. Like this one in Stowmarket Suffolk, been covered up for donkeys years with an carpet to reveal this beautiful herringbone oak floor. In fact i’ve done two herringbone wood floors in Stowmarket recently, i will post the before photos below. As you can see they started off pretty grubby and dirty.
The wood sanding process of finishing the wood floors Suffolk
Once sanded it’s quite common that an old herringbone floor will gaps. Sometimes this is not a problem you can leave the gaps or we can fill them. We do this by collecting clean dust in the bag of the sanding machine and mixing with a resin to produce a paste. Then the paste is spread over over the floor into the gaps and allowed to dry. This method produces the closest possible colour to fill in the gaps. Once dried the floor is sanded up to a smooth 120 grit finish.
Applying a protective wood flooring finish.
Wether the wood floors Suffolk or further a field this won’t effect the type of finish to go for. What will affect the finish is the type of timber the floor is and also were the floor is. In this these two herringbone floors one we finished with hard wax oil as this was an oak floor which an hard wax oil looks amazing on oak. The other floor we wasn’t too sure the type of timber as years ago they used timber which one are not allowed to bring into the country and two you can not get hold of them anymore, but it was an reddish timber with an high oil content. These we find are best suited with an lacquered finish. Please see the finished result below.
